Guest Blog: Prepping For Gameday!

Hey y’all!  I’m Miss Janice of Etiquette with Miss Janice blog.  I’m happy to be guest-blogging for Rachel while she’s at the beach!  I first discovered Rachel on Instagram {apreppystateofmind}, where she features her fabulous preppy outfits and photos of her well-dressed Shorkie puppy Jaycee.  I sent her a message that she simply MUST start a blog, as I wanted to read more about her and her sweet puppy!  I soon discovered that despite the huge difference in our ages, we both have so much in common.  To start with, Rachel lives in Augusta and that’s where I was born and raised.  She attends Augusta State College and so did I!  We both share the love of all things preppy and coordinating our outfits just so-so!  Then there’s that puppy dress-up stuff  Rachel likes to do with Jaycee.  My puppy, Mlle. Coco Chanel, loves to play dress up also and we have been known to match our Mama-Puppy outfits.

Like most Southern girls, Rachel and I are not ashamed to say we are obsessed with cute clothes!  I was raised by my sweet Southern Mama to love clothes and I can tell that Rachel’s Mama also loves to dress up cute!  Now we’ve both been wearing our Lilly shifts all summer long, but as summer is quickly drawing to an end, it’s time to get our “Fall Wardrobe” together.

With Autumn comes yummy pumpkin spiced lattes, cute cardigans, and football!  Are y’all ready for some football?  Do you have your Gameday Dresses picked out yet?

Yes, in the South, we dress up to go to a football game.  No stretchy pants and sweatshirts or jeans and tees for us Southern girls.  We simply have to be dressed cute…wearing our team colors.  Being a Florida State fan, here is my Gameday outfit.

I just love the Gameday Chevron dresses by Mudpie…they come in lots of collegiate colors.

Where to buy all this cute loot:
Collegiate hairbow – Dixieland Monogram, Cardi – Lands’ End, Mud Pie Chevron Gameday dress – The Smock Exchange, ‘Sangria’ Tory Burch ballet flats – Shopbop, Mud Pie Gameday Tumblers – The Smock Exchange, Collegiate folding chair – Target, Burberry cologne, Christiain Dior lipstick, ‘Oyster Perpetual’ Rolex, ‘Eternity’ wedding band – Cartier, pearl necklace, Chanel sunglasses, and gold cutout monogrammed earrings and necklace…all mine.
Young girls today like to wear sundresses with cowboy boots or even Jack Rogers sandals…after Labor Day, Lord have mercy!  It doesn’t matter what style of dress you like, ‘cuz you can always find precious Gameday dresses at The Laughing Giraffe, Natalie Kim Gameday, Sideline Sweetie, Gorgeous Gameday, and the ever-so popular Annabelle Laroque.  But remember…your pearls are a must!
Gameday-at-Home.  Now, if you decide to stay home with family and catch the game on tv, you can put on your cute collegiate stretchy pants with a big tee, pop some popcorn, and enjoy the game without all the primpin’!

Wanna take Gameday-at-home up a notch?  Gameday parties are all the rage for those who can’t get to the stadium and still want to celebrate with friends.  I love all these collegiate party platters, a must for the Southern girl who loves to entertain!

Melissa Caligiuri makes these fabulous collegiate party pics…perfect for your cupcakes or cheese trays.  Contact Melissa on her Etsy site.
Whether you decide to tailgate and watch the game at the stadium, stay at home with family all comfy in your stretchy pants, or host a Gameday party, you simply must check out the “Gridiron Belle’s book…A Guide to Saturdays in Dixie.  This book will introduce you to everything there is to know about football life in the South.

It’s almost time for football y’all…my favorite time of year!
