When My Heart Is Overwhelmed…

Happy Tuesday, Friends!  Do y’all ever find a certain verse that you cling to?  I have done this with several verses, and honestly, that just proves to me how powerful God’s Word is!  It is just as real today as it was years and years ago.  I always remember that through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures, we can have hope (Romans 15:4)!  But today I want to share a certain verse that has meant so much to me!  Today I want to talk about Psalm 61:2 as it has given me hope.

“From the end of the earth I will cry unto Thee when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
This verse is just such a beautiful reminder to me of who is my help and my strength…”the rock that is higher than I.”  So many times when I’m overwhelmed, I tend to let it get to me and affect my total being.  But I simply love this picture of when becoming overwhelmed, we must cry out to God.  Ask Him for help.  He will help you with everything you have on your plate, everything going on in your life, anything and everything!  He will be your strength.  I also love this reminder as it so plainly describes to us that God understands our every feeling from sadness, happiness, to even becoming overwhelmed.  God tells us that when weary, we are to come to Him and He will give us rest (Matthew 11:28). What a comfort that is!
Whatever it is that you have on your plate, whatever your feelings are, whatever you are dealing with, turn to the one that understands every ounce of it and trust in His timing. Find your comfort in Him.  If you’re feeling overwhelmed, turn to the rock that is higher than you! Turn to His Word, turn to Him in prayer, trust in Him with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. He has a plan that is more amazing than anything you could ever imagine.  If you can trust Him with that, I promise you can trust Him with whatever has you feeling overwhelmed 🙂
It has taken some time for me to grasp this, but I have learned to turn to the Lord with anything and everything!  It is all in the process of learning to fully trust Him with all of your heart.  And friends, I can promise you that you will also find your strength for anything in life as you can trust Him, the rock that is higher than you!
Delightfully Yours,

  1. Needed this so badly today. After a tough and defeating day at work, my heart longed for words and encouragement to make it better. So often I forget to turn to the easier words to receive which are gods words. Thank you for the reminder of rest and trust in what I know to be truth. We can't do this life on our own and we don't have to!
