Favorite Hair Products + How I Curl My Hair

Hello friends and happy Wednesday! I am extra excited to share today’s post with you all as it’s all about my favorite products from shampoo and conditioner all the way to my favorite curling wand. My most asked questions are about my hair, so I hope y’all find this helpful today 🙂 I will also be curling my hair over on Instagram stories today, so that y’all can see just how I do that. If you miss it today, no worries! I will save it to my highlights under “curls” so you can access it whenever you want.
Before we jump into the products, I wanted to mention a few things. First of all, I have a very fine hair texture! Before I cur my hair short, my hair would never ever hold curl. And even now with it short, I have to use a good bit of product in order for it to thicken up some and curl well. I also feel that my hair curls best when it’s on the dirty side. I usually wash my hair two times a week (hello dry shampoo!) and that helps with holding curl. I’ll usually wear it straight the day I was it and then curl its the days following. That just tends to work best, but I know everyone’s hair is different.

Shampoo & Conditioner

For shampoo and conditioner, I have a more expensive one I love and also a less expensive. Here’s why! With only washing my hair twice a week, I’m not using as much shampoo and conditioner, therefore I’d rather invest in a really great one since not using as much. I so use a less expensive as well for the in betweens, if needed. My very favorite shampoo and conditioner are the Caviar Anti Aging Replenishing Moisture shampoo and conditioner. Let me just say, they’re amazing!!! My hair has never felt so healthy and replenished after using this set. Especially in the summer when I was out in the sun so much, this stuff did wonders for my hair! It smells amazing, and my hair has never felt so soft after using them. I also love that it has UV protection and protection for color-treated hair as well.
As for the less expensive, I have LOVED this UnWind Gloss Boss set by Hask. First of all, the white wine smells AMAZING! Seriously unlike any other I’ve ever smelt. Sometimes in the shower, I’ll smell it just for fun hahaha. I love the color shine shampoo and conditioner. They really do add so much shine! They come in a few different scents and have a shampoo and conditioner to repair, protect color and more, if that’s what you’re looking for.
Dry Shampoo
I’m a firm believer in a great dry shampoo! That is the key to going with a limited washing cycle, I feel. I am also a huge fan of Bumble and Bumble products. This one does a great job at making my hair feel “clean”. It also smells amazing!!! It doesn’t leave a residue and turn your hair white. It also serves as a UV protectant from the sun. And also is a two-in-one to add texture and volume, which I love!
Priming Sprays

Continuing on with my love for B&B products, I also use one of these spays. I will normally spray them in my hair when damp and before drying them (before adding in mouse). I am normally focusing on thickening up my hair to add some volume, so I’ll use the Bumble and Bumble thickening spray which works wonders for my fine hair texture! This paired with a great mouse is a match made for thickening up hair! It is said to create “lasting lift and volume” which is just what it does, I feel. I will sometimes use the tonic lotion primer as well, which I love. This one more of primes your hair as a heat protectant, not necessarily to add volume. But I love it as well. Again, it is not going to thicken but it will help detangle and just kind go overall refresh and help protect your hair.
For Straight Hair

If you’re looking for a product that will truly feel nourishing and replenishing to your hair! I don’t use this one as much since my hair texture is fine. But if you’ve been out in the sun and your hair just feels like you need something that will truly rescue it, this stuff is amazing! It is also a great heat protectant if you want to use it for that purpose but it leaves your hair feeling silky smooth. It isn’t as ideal for curling your hair and I don’t mix it with the thickening spray I mentioned above. But it is great! I use this product all by itself when using it.
My Favorite Mousse

I switched to using this mouse about three months ago and absolutely love it! The Redken Full Frame Volumizing mousse does absolutely everything you’d want it to do. Thickens, adds texture, adds tons of volume…it’s amazing! I had been using a Bumble and Bumble mousse but for some reason, they switched up the formula causing it to not work as well. So I switched to this after reading some reviews and just love it so much! When getting out of the shower, I’ll always let my hair air dry for a bit so that the product can fully work (I feel that if there’s a lot of water in your hair, it doesn’t work to its full potential). I then spray the thickening spray mentioned above then add about a quarter size of this mousse all throughout my hair (starting at the roots and pulling in an upward motion then continuing the product down to the ends). The thickening spray paired with the mousse is seriously the ultimate duo!
Texture & Volume Sprays

Now for my favorite part! Just a heads up, these products I’m about to mention are my highly recommended, biggest game changer, most amazing products of all. I love both of these. But the Bumble and Bumble thickening dry spun finish spray does just that. It adds an amazing thickness and texture to your hair. It’s a great finishing spray and can also serve as a hairspray. I feel like this one truly does the job with thickening. The other one I absolutely  LOVE and just started using is the Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast spray. Again, amazing!! I do feel that this one focuses more on volume rather than texture. If you spray it into your roots and kind of massage it into your hair, it truly will add SO much lift to your hair. It’s like magic. I do feel that the B&B smells better than the Living Proof. But they’re both awesome! I also feel like if you spray the living proof and then brush your hair, it will kind of brush the product out, defeating the purpose, so definitely keep that in mind! The B&B tends to “stick” to your hair more, if you will. Currently, I’d probably say that I love the Living Proof right now. But I’m still a huge fan of the B&B dry spun finish as well.
Hairsprays

My favorite hairspray for over two years and counting is the Bumble and Bumble strong finish hairspray. This stuff is AWESOME! I love that it is a strong hold and adds just enough hold without it looking “stuck” if that makes sense. I hate it when my hair looks like it’s stuck in position and can’t move. So I highly recommend this spray. And as always, I like to give a more affordable option. My favorite affordable hairspray is the Tres Two Extra Hold Hairspray.
Curling Wand

Last but certainly not least, my curling wand! Probably the most asked question about my hair, what wand do I use. Well, this is it! I purchased this baby the day after I got my hair cut short (June 2016), and it is still what I say is one of the best purchase decisions I’ve ever made! Still works like a charm and I couldn’t do without it! The T3 Whirl Trio Curling Wand Set is truly amazing. I use the 1 inch barrel attachment for my hair. I have tried using the larger however it doesn’t work as well with my short, fine hair (tighter, smaller curls are key!). I honestly have never tried out the tapered barrel but do need to play around with it some. I’m glad I have the set for options, but if you want to cut back on the cost, you can just purchase the Convertible Base and the one inch barrel. But as the barrels count $95 each, you definitely get a great deal with the whirl trio for just a bit more. I seriously couldn’t recommend this wand enough if you’re looking for a great one to invest in!
Well that’s about it for the products I use! I hope y’all found that to be helpful. As always, let me know if y’all have any questions 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Delightfully Yours,
