Tonight was one of my favorite events of the Christmas season…the tacky Christmas sweater party!! This year, I decided not to wear the traditional tacky sweater, and instead went with a cute craft idea and wore a “tacky skirt” with a basic black turtle neck sweater! I was so pleased with the results. I found this adorable idea on Tara Gibson’s fabulous blog, Jimmy Choos and Tennis Shoes!
After reading about Tara’s design, I ditched the tacky sweater and headed over to target where I found ALL of my supplies. I found the perfect red polka dot taffeta skirt in the girls section, the gold garland for the sash of the skirt, and a package of present bows all in a matter of minutes. They were perfect! As Tara said, the hot glue gun was also my best friend in making this skirt. Here are the results!
This easily became one of the highlights of my Christmas season! I received so many compliments on it and felt like I was Miss Christmas!
What do you think??
Stay Tuned!
I am planning on making this tonight for our teacher ugly sweater contest! Yay!
Where are the directions???
Hey Belle! You literally just use a skirt, present bows, garland, and a hot glue gun. Glue the bows on to the skirt wherever you feel they should be places, and tie the garland around your waist. Very simple 🙂
Did you put bows in the back? I bet it would be awkward to sit.
Just in the front.
