January 2019 Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale
Hello friends! If you’re a Lilly Pulitzer lover like I am, then you’ve probably heard the exciting news…the January 2019 After Party Sale begins tomorrow at 8AM EST! I don’t wear a lot of Lilly in the winter months, but I am so excited for this sale as it starts my excitement for the upcoming warm weather and is a GREAT opportunity to stock up on some Lilly (for both moms and kids!) for spring and summer 2019. Woohoo! The best part is for sure the prices. Pieces are usually 50% off and sometimes even more than that. Lilly does not run sales regularly throughout the year as they save up for this huge celebration of a sale that happenes twice a year (at the beginning of the year and at the end of summer). This is the only time you will see Lilly for such a steal.
Today I want to share a quick run down of my favorite tips and tricks to shopping the sale. If you’re new to the game, this post is for you! As silly as this may sound, there is a method to shopping the sale. Even if you’ve shopped the sale before, I recommend just skimming through this post to help you get prepared. How The Sale Works:
The Lilly Pulitzer APS works by means of a virtual line. Don’t let this scare you as this is actually a blessing (it keeps the site from crashing!). When you enter the sale on Monday, do not freak out if you enter right at 8:00AM to see that you’re number 89,987 in line. The good news is that line tends to move very quickly. But remember, you must shop quickly once you enter the sale, because things do sell out in the blink of an eye and just because something is in your shopping cart doesn’t mean it won’t sell out. Be sure to see my tips below, as this will help you prepare a game plan for shopping the sale 🙂
And lastly, it’s important to remember that all sales are final with the APS! So, know your size and know what you’re needing! You can also shop the sale as many times as you’d like. However, you will be placed back in the virtual line after checking out each time. Oh and remember, once you enter the sale and are placed in the virtual line, do not refresh the page! It will do that on its own for you once it’s your turn to enter. Refreshing only puts you to the back of the line.

As I’ve mentioned in the past, there is a method to shopping the APS. If you don’t shop with game plan, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and you loose your items you set out to purchase. Next, I’m sharing my favorite tips and tricks to shopping the sale. Most of these are things you can do before hand that will help you tremendously when it comes time to shop. See them below:
My tips for shopping the sale:
Have your account set up ahead of time
If you don’t already have a Lilly Pulitzer account set up, head over to Lilly now and do so (you can set one up here). You must have an account set up before you can place an order. It takes a few minutes, so you don’t want to be setting up an account during the sale madness tomorrow. It’s key to do as many things before hand as possible. And even if you do already have one set up, go ahead and log in just to make sure that you remember your log in info, make sure that your info (shipping, billing, payment) is correct, etc. If you do these things ahead of time, literally all you’ll have to do for the order is click, click and click!
Shop Simultaneously
You can shop from as many devices as you choose to! Shop from your computer, your iPad, your iPhone, two computers, whatever! I always enter the sale from my computer right at 8, and I enter though my phone or iPad as well. So then whichever one I get through the sale to first, that’s the one I shop on!
Shop Fast
Remember not to waste time during this sale. Try to know what you want well in advanced. Look through your Lilly. Are you wanting some new shifts for this spring and summer? Are you wanting some cashmere cardigans to wear now? Is there a certain print you’ve had your eye on? Are you wanting some little shifts for your little one(s)?
Think about these things now, make a list and have a game plan for the sale. That way, when you enter the sale, you already have an idea of what you’re hoping to purchase. It allows you to shop fast! Items go in the blink of an eye, and nothing is “yours” until you hit “place order” so remember to make quick decisions. This leads to…
Shop Smart
I mentioned earlier that it’s important to know what you’re wanting, because all sales are final for this sale. Know what you’re looking to buy, and don’t buy just to buy. I have fallen guilty of that several times in the past and have wished that I could return some things. Set a budget of how much you’re willing to spend, if this helps you. It’s also important to know your sizing. You can check out Lilly’s sizing info here!
Shop Throughout the Day
As I mentioned earlier, you can shop the sale as many times as you please. As the day goes on, the line pretty much diminishes. I always overlook items the first time that I shop the sale. So, if it helps you, don’t try to grab everything up at one time. The chaos dies down throughout the day.
Remember To Be Gracious
I always remind myself that bottom line, it’s just a sale. Yes, it’s exciting, but if you don’t walk away getting everything you wanted, don’t be bummed. There will be other Lilly sales in the future. Also, sometimes technical difficulties occur in the sale (the site has crashed many times in the past), which results in some unhappy Lilly lovers voicing their opinions. I find this to be disheartening. It’s so great that Lilly does this sale, so remember to remain respectful and be gracious that there’s an opportunity to get such amazing deals on Lilly.

Yayyyy the sale begun and is so amazing, y’all! I started off being 30,000+ in line, but I was in the sale within about thirty minutes or so. Not too bad! I feel like the selection is a little more slim than the summer sale, which is normal with the winter sale, I feel. However!!! There are some AMAZING pieces with even more amazing prices. I also feel like there are a lot of sizes to choose from. Anddd things just seem overall more chill than usual, which I’m super excited about.
I’m still making my shopping decisions. I found some things for myself and Madeline. I’ve also been finding some pieces for my sister for her honeymoon. I will keep y’a’ll updated on what I end up purchasing 🙂
