Recent Purchases + avoiding the winter blues

Hey Friends! Happy Wednesday to y’all. Today I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite recent purchases. Several of these were gifts that I received for Christmas, and after trying them out for a few weeks, I absolutely love them. I’ll start with a few pieces of clothing that I’ve purchased (that are all under $100) and then share several other miscellaneous items. At the end of this post, I’ll be touching on how I dress for winter while avoiding the winter blues.

Clothing

Let’s start with the clothing! How darling is this bow-back sweater?! I fell in love with it the second I saw it, and it’s even cuter in person! It seriously looks like something from Club Monaco but for a fraction of the price. I’ll be styling it here on Something Delightful very soon 🙂 I also purchased this button-up cardi but in a gorgeous light pink color. This Striped top has the cutest sleeve details. It’s definitely a piece that can be worn now with a vest or a chunky scarf and also into the spring with white denim. This pullover is the softest, coziest thing ever. I gave one to my Mama as well, and she loves hers as much as I love mine. The good news is that this popular piece was just restocked! This grey ruffle hem tee is a great layering piece for now to layer under cardigans (I love it layered with #2 on this list) and to wear by itself in the spring. This vest is as cozy as cozy gets! It’s not too heavy, but the warmth factor is amazing. I love it styled just as pictured, with a white top for a simplistic look. The fun sleeves on this sweatshirt are amazing! I love this piece layered with a scarf or front-tucked into my favorite joggers for s cozy look. It’s so cute! This striped tee is a great basic. I actually purchased it in white. The cool thing about it is that it’s reversible. The v-neck can be switched from front to back! And lastly, this ruffle top is the most gorgeous shade of violet. It’s so perfect for now and will also be gorgeous with white denim in the spring. The great thing about all of these pieces is that they’re all under $100, many of the being under $50

Accessories & More

Okay now on to the accessories and a few other random purchases. Let’s start with the shoes! Y’all actually voted on these boots via my Instagram stories. I’m so glad that everyone seemed to like this pair as much as I do. I had been wanting a good, versatile grey pair and this is definitely it! They’re also on sale. With many of my 2018 goals revolving around fitness and health, I figure that a new pair of sneaks were a good idea. I absolutely love the neutral appearance of these. They’re SO comfortable and have a great “bounce” to them. The last pair of shoes that falls under my recent purchases are these affordable and oh-so precious mules. Pink, ruffles and pearls are just a few of my favorites, so when I saw them all combined on one shoe, I couldn’t pass them up! They’re under $70 and come in several colors.
Next up on the list are two home decor items…a coffee table book and a print for my gallery wall. I have been wanting to increase my collection of coffee table books for some time now and have decided to slowly start doing that. This one was at the top of my list! This illustration for my gallery wall that I’m recreating is so gorgeous and perfect for anyone who loves fashion. I can’t wait to share my entire wall with y’all once it’s completed. It’s so “me” 🙂
Last but not least are three cosmetic purchases. Number four is a makeup must-have! I have loved and used so many IT cosmetic products. I actually heard about this one from a fellow blogger, Taylor Morgan of Little Blonde Book. She does an amazing job with her makeup and shares a lot on her Instagram. So shoutout to Taylor for the recommendation. But I love this stuff so much. It seriously adds the most gorgeous and smooth finishing touch to your complexion. I also recently purchased this eyeshadow palette. I love the warm neutrals as they are great for blue eyes. I use anywhere from three to six of these shadows for the current looks I’ve been loving. The last cosmetic item is this brush set. I have never wanted to spend a ton on brushes and came across this amazing brush set from Ulta. It comes with six brushes for the price of two brushes by this same brane. The quality is amazing!
Avoiding the Winter Blues

That’s about it for my recent purchase ramblings, so now I have to share a way that I avoid the winter blues when getting dressed each day. There are so many cute things coming out for spring right now, but I’m entirely too cold (and pale haha) to put on anything related to spring. But I think we all could agree that this is the most difficult time of the year to dress. It’s cold outside. Everything seems cold, to be honest. All I really want to do is put on my sweats and curl up under a cozy throw. But that’s not reality and one must keep on going, right?! This time of the year, I’m so over dark colors. I’m sick of my reds since we just had Christmas. And the last thing I want to put on are darker shades. Well, I say do the opposite! Dress in winter pastels. With Valentine’s Day being just around the corner it’s a great time to start pulling out all of your pinks. This is also the time of year when I begin to pull out my white denim to wear with my favorite sweaters. To avoid feeling the winter blues, I prefer to wear winter pieces that are lighter shades. For me, pink, grey and all the neutrals (beige, off-white, etc.) are my current favorites that will have me thinking of warmer (spring) vibes. My current favorite color combination for an outfit is pink, white and grey. Here’s a look that I have paired in my closet and is ready to be worn: This cardi in pink layered over this tee in grey with this scarf. I may be dressed for the cold, but the colors I’m wearing are reminding me of spring. Another great thing about buying lighter colors now is that they will be great to transition with once March arrives.
Thanks so much for stopping by, friends! How do you avoid the winter blues when dressing for this time of the year?! I’d love to hear.
Delightfully Yours,
