Happy Tuesday, friends!  A word I have been thinking on recently is the word “abide.”  This word is one that was recently focused on in discussion on the First5 App by Proverbs 31 Ministries (If you don’t have this app, I highly recommend it!).  What does the word abide mean?  It means to remain. Life can be so busy.  Before Madeline was born, I always found time (at about the same time every day) to open my Bible and read…to have my devotions and quite time.  Now, if I get my quite time, it’s never  at the same time each day.  Hearing the word “abide” discussed truly hit home for me.  Abiding in the Lord means to incorporate Him into each and every part of your life, all day, every day…whether it be while you’re taking a shower, driving, at school, at work, etc.  Invite Him into every aspect.
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”
~John 15:4 ~
I pray that God will give me wisdom, strengthen my heart, and give the peace that only He can give.  I find this by abiding in Him.  That is how I run this race He has marked out for me with perseverance (Hebrews 12:1-2).  I can only do this with His help. and I find that by simply remaining in Him.
If life has you feeling overwhelmed, the Lord understands!  He understands your every thought, so give it all to Him as you abide in Him.
Delightfully Yours,

  1. The Bible study I did this summer had a substantial section on this very concept, which was lovely and illuminating. I would highly recommend it if you're looking for a workbook & type study (6 weeks) – "What Love Is" by Kelly Minter, focusing on the three letters of John, which are oft-forgotten little gems near the back of the book!
