Something Delightful

Top (Available in Black) // Skirt // Bracelet // Dress
Happy Monday! Welcome to the debut of my new blog (name), Something Delightful! I am so excited to share the inspiration behind the name and the design.
I have loved blogging over the past few years. The amazing people I’ve met along the way, the opportunities it has provided me with, and most importantly, the creative outlet it served for me have meant so much. Three years ago, I chose the blog name “A Preppy State of Mind” thinking that it would be something I could grow with and that it would cover everything I wanted to blog about. I was confident on my name up until the end of last summer. Just when we think that we’re on top of the world and nothing can shoot us down, God has a way of saying “Hold up there…I have a different plan for you.” I found out late last summer that I had a baby on the way. With so many things on my mind, blogging was one of the very last. I still loved it, but couldn’t find the strength to keep it up like I had been. I often times considered giving it up for good. After much thought, I decided that I didn’t want to give it up, because it is something I’ve so enjoyed.
While I was pregnant, not only did I see my life evolving to become the best mother I could be to Madeline, but God truly laid a burden on my heart to call on Him and find the strength only He can give. I started to have not only a “need” for Jesus each and every day, but also a “want.” I wanted to spend time with Him, because I knew that is where my strength, comfort, and peace would come from.  I also started to feel the want to share some of what I was reading through books and Bible studies here on my blog. After having Madeline, I felt as if “A Preppy State of Mind” was a bit immature for what my life is now like. It’s amazing how much our lives can change in a year! Life can be crazy, but it is always such a comfort to know that God will never leave us nor forsake us. My life is so much different now, but boy is it delightful! It’s “Something Delightful.” It’s delightful because it’s what God had given me. My daughter makes life delightful in every way. I love it…especially because she’s in it. She’s my whole world!
Psalm 37 has also always been my favorite Psalm. I truly believe in God’s word and know that it is the light unto our paths. Psalm 37:4 says “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” That is also another reason why I have chosen the word “Delightful” for my blog name. And what is the inspiration behind the blog design scheme? Well, it’s simple…blush pink and gold remind me of my baby girl. Blush pink has been my favorite color ever since I found out Madeline was a girl, and her nursery colors are blush pink and gold. I love it, and Kelly did such an amazing job!
So, there you have it! That’s the inspiration behind my new blog name and design, and also the reasons why I decided to go with the change. I love it and can’t wait to see what’s in store. As I said before, the content of my blog will be exactly the same as I will be blogging on fashion, faith, and lifestyle. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart, for following me along on this journey.  I appreciate each and every one of you. Have a great Monday!
Delightfully Yours,

I think these kinds of stories are my favorite where people have not only the need, but the want as you called it, for Him. I have a story like that as well and it's the best thing that can ever happen for anyone: this absolute love for Jesus!!!! Blessings, Rachel!!! ps love the new layout of your blog, it's beautiful!!!
